Burlington North Carolina is part of the Piedmont Triad region of the state and one of North Carolina's great vacation spots, with so much to do!
Burlington is known as the city of progress and quality with a rich history to prove it. With four seasons, and an average temperature of about 60 degrees, recreational activities are popular all year long!
North Carolina tourism continues to be popular and it's no wonder with so much to see. The Burlington area is no different, as it is surrounded by beauty and fun things to do.
Come visit and you can:
Walk the historic district - There is a terrific walking tour where you will see some amazing homes, going back as far as the 1880's. You will see architecture consisting of Victorian, Colonial, American as well as additional styles from the 20th century.
Baseball - If you've seen Bull Durham, you have seen the stadium. The Burlington Royals play in advanced rookie level in the Appalachian league. So much fun!
Lakes - If you like North Carolina hiking, North Carolina fishing, either from a boat or from the bank, kayaking in North Carolina, or any other outdoor recreational activities, you can do it here.
City Park - With 46 hand carved wooden animals, including horses, rabbits, lions, pigs and more, you can ride the carousel. If you prefer trains, you can do that too!
Concerts - Burlington North Carolina has some great parks and from May through August, you can hear Sunset Rhythms outdoor concert series so pack a picnic and enjoy some great music under the stars!
There are plenty of scenic drives close by as well.
The Lafayette's Tour Scenic Byway - North Carolina's history includes a region of plantations and old southern architecture. Historic cities and landmarks are plentiful along the byway, and visitors will find themselves transported to another time period.
Devil's Stomping Ground runs through the heart of North Carolina. Legend has it that this is where Lucifer creates his naughty schemes. Thus the name: Devil's Stomping Ground.
The Colonial Heritage Byway offers several points of interest for travelers. Architecture from the 18th and 19th Centuries is abundant throughout the communities of this byway and the historic buildings of the past are still in use today.
Football Road is an auto road, but what is exciting is that it is also a designated bike path. It offers a scenic, 37-mile ride through pastoral farmlands with ponds and babbling brooks. It also presents several historic sites dating back to the Revolutionary era.
But that's not all, in just a few hours you can be enjoying the views of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains heading West, or head East and see the beautiful beaches in North Carolina as well as the North Carolina lighthouses. Burlington's location makes it easy to visit some great cities.
