Concord North Carolina

Concord North Carolina is the fourth largest city in the Charlotte North Carolina Metropolitan Area and a winner of the All-America City Award in 2004.

Although Concord offers visitors a wide variety of things to do in Charlotte, it is best known for NASCAR and is the current home to Charlotte Motor Speedway, a NASCAR Research and Development Office, as well as many professional race teams, including Richard Petty Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports, Roush Fenway Racing, and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.

In 1959 the speedway was opened by owner Bruton Smith, who grew up in Oakboro, NC. In addition to opening Charlotte Motor Speedway, Bruton Smith also opened a drag strip adjacent to the NASCAR racetrack.

But as I said, North Carolina NASCAR is not the only thing Concord North Carolina has to offer. When you come here you can find shopping at Concord Mills, which by the way is amazing.

You will find many of your favorite outlet stores, such as TJ Maxx, Nike Factory Store, Hot Topic and American Eagle but will also find big box stores and of course, NASCAR Speedpark.

If your not into shopping you might want to check out a movie or maybe go see what is happening at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center. The venue is home to many trade and consumer shows, local and regional sporting events, Regional and National Dog and Horse shows. It was also home to the Carolina Thunder and the Carolina Speed team. So, as you can see, North Carolina sports teams are very important.

In Concord North Carolina, you will find a collection of late nineteenth and early twentieth century historic districts along the streets of North Union, South Union, and Edgewood. The residents of these three Historic Districts take great pride in maintaining the historical and architectural greatness of their homes.

The Memorial Garden is also located here and is amazing. Located on three acres, it is something you should really see. There are also many recreation centers, North Carolina state parks and an aquatics center.

Interested in the water? Lake Fisher, is 3 miles of lakefront and where you can enjoy peaceful boating and North Carolina fishing, with lots of greenery and bike paths. There is also the championship 18-hole Rocky River Golf Club, for those who need to get in a couple of rounds of golf. (You know who you are!)

As you can see, although people may come to Concord for the speedway, you can find many other fun things to do when you are here. So, whether you are a addict or not, you will love Concord North Carolina!
