State Parks along their shores while others fall within the National

North Carolina Lakes
Badin Lake - a very safe recreational facility that is ideal
for all lake activities including boating, fishing, skiing, tubing, jet
skiing, and North Carolina sailing.
Blewett Falls Lake
- Great for fishing, you will find the lake well stocked with bass,
crappie, bream, stripers and catfish. Different species are known to be
more active at different times of the year.
- (extends into Georgia)- Lake Chatuge is located on the North
Carolina/Georgia border. With 132 miles of shoreline this is a great fishing lake.
Falls Lake - Fishing, boating and swimming are only a few of the activities awaiting you on the water. On land, you can enjoy walking, mountain biking or camping along a portion of the state's Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
(formerly Quaker Lake)- Fishing and boating lake, but if your looking
for a place to swim, this isn't it...no swimming allowed here.
High Rock Lake - This is the second largest lake in North Carolina behind Lake Norman, and is considered one of the best fishing lakes of North Carolina.

the area's main destination for fishing, boating, water skiing, wake
boarding, and additional outdoor recreation and is the larger of Person
County's two lakes, the other being Mayo Lake.
- Located west of Raleigh, you will find nine recreation areas here.
You can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, swimming, picnicking, and a
number of other activities here.
Kerr Lake - You can enjoy sailing, fishing, water skiing and
camping. This 50,000-acre, man-made lake is a haven for water sports
enthusiasts and landlubbers alike. The lake is situated in the northeast
corner of the Piedmont region and lies in both Virginia and North
Lake Brandt - Features fishing, kayaking
and canoeing. The lake is home to large mouth bass, crappie, catfish
and other species. At Lake Brandt, you can rent rowboats, kayaks, and
Lake Cammack - Offers water skiing, fishing and personal watercraft opportunities as well as hiking and mountain bike trails.
Lake Gaston - Has long been popular for fishing and other water recreation. The lake is a one of the great vacation spots, because it is close to the Research Triangle region of North Carolina.
Lake Hickory - Is a complete recreational lake that includes outdoor activities such as boating, sailing, jet ski’s, water skiing, and swimming, as well as fishing tournaments. Enjoy George's on the lake, the local lakefront restaurant, for great food and drinks in a nice relaxing atmosphere.
- It's the smallest of the three City lakes in the area, yet offers
some of the best fishing in the area. Fishing from a boat or pier, kayaking and canoeing are also available at Lake Higgins. Rowboats, kayaks and canoes are available for daily rentals.
- Here nature offers scenic vistas of the Appalachian Mountains and
calls to those who love outdoor recreation. Why not go swimming, enjoy
sunbathing or have a picnic along the lake-shore. Get out on a boat,
water ski or fish in cool mountain waters, or take a walk and enjoy the
beautiful wildflowers and wildlife along park trails.
- A mountain lake community located in western North Carolina, the Town
of Lake Lure is a great location for sports including swimming,
golfing, hiking or serious rock climbing. You can also enjoy a wide
variety of water activities, ranging from canoeing and fishing to
pleasure boating and water skiing.
- Enjoy riding your bike on the trails, take a walk in the woods and
keep your eyes open for birds like the Gray Catbird, Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker, Bald Eagle, Eastern Phoebe, Downy Woodpeckers. Yes, it's all
about being outdoors.
Lake Norman - There's more to Lake Norman State Park
than just water. With recreation activities like swimming, boating,
biking, hiking, fishing and camping. You have so much to choose from
here. One of my favorite North Carolina lakes to visit.
Lake Tillery - Located in the
southern part of the Piedmont Triad area, about one hour east of
Charlotte, North Carolina, this area is very much a rural community, but
due to its beautiful surroundings and location near larger areas, it is
the perfect blending of both worlds. If you are searching for
tranquility and a little bit of peace, then Lake Tillery is the place
Lake Townsend - Located in Greensboro North Carolina, it offers boat or pier fishing, pleasure boating, and sailing and camping.
- is the largest privately held lake in North Carolina. With
breathtaking mountain vista and crystal clear waters, this is such a
beautiful place to spend some time enjoying skiing, boating, swimming
Mayo Lake - Enjoy boating, walking trails, swimming access, picnic and camp site areas that are collectively known as Mayo Park.
Mountain Island Lake
- Inside of Mountain Island Lake is a small island called Mountain
Island where you can enjoy boating and fishing. The primary function of
Mountain Island Lake is to provide drinking water for residents of Mecklenburg, and Gaston County.
Price Lake - Visit Price Lake Boat Dock and rent small row boats
and canoes for relaxing, fishing or cruising around this beautiful
Lake. Located near Blowing Rock, North Carolina, it's the perfect place
to go hiking and camping.
Reidsville Lake - This recreation facility boasts a 750-acre lake and park that provides many outdoor activities,
including boating, fishing, water skiing, picnicking and more. Along
with these activities, Lake Reidsville also offers a full schedule of
special events throughout the season.
Tuckertown Lake - The great outdoors of this place offers activities that include golfing, tennis, cycling, hunting, fishing, walking, hiking and camping.
W. Kerr Scott Lake
- Aa beautiful lake set in the foothills of Northwest North Carolina,
this lake offers recreation areas and Popular activities include
boating, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping and picnicking. Facilities at Kerr Scott include three campgrounds, four designated swimming areas, a marina, and a visitor center with a museum and bookstore.

opportunities for getting outside to enjoy all that nature offers as
well as so many fun activities for the whole family!
