So you're looking for some real adventure?

North Carolina rafting could just be your answer!

If you are into a challenging, thrilling activity that will get your heart pumping all while you enjoy the sights and sounds of the wilderness...if you dare to look around!

So, you don't know anything about North Carolina rafting?

Well, it's is a challenging sport, to say the least, and not for someone who doesn't enjoy the thrills and (sometimes) spills of a wild time on the water! All you need is a raft to navigate a river or other body of water, a life jacket and your sense of adventure!

North Carolina whitewater rafting is Usually done on some degree of rough water and is a

thrilling and exciting adventure.

Although Whitewater rafting in North Carolina can be a dangerous sport, it is more dangerous if you go alone rather than with professionals, who make safety their first priority. There are plenty of great rafting companies out there, and you do have to trust them once you are out on the water, but it is always wise to discuss all safety procedures with the rafting operator before you decide on signing on for any river rafting trips.

You need to make sure that the qualifications of the company are good and the raft guides are certified. Don't forget to make sure the equipment being used is in excellent condition!

I know what you are thinking! You want to try North Carolina rafting but you're not sure if you are ready for a really wild ride?

No Problem!

okay, you are not even going to believe this but...

It works like this, there is a scale of six levels or classes of difficulty also referred to as Grades, then on top of that, there can be hard grades and easy grades. North Carolina rafting offers it all.

there is actually a tool called The International Scale of River Difficulty, and it's a standardized scale used to rate the safety of a stretch of river, or even a single rapid. The grade reflects the level of difficulty and skill level needed to be able to safely navigate a section of river.

Rivers or rapids are also given a numerical grade, and then a plus (+) or minus (-) to indicate if it is in the higher or lower end of the difficulty level.

The classes are outlined like this:

Class I: Easy - small Waves, clear passages, and no serious obstacles to look out for.

Class II: Medium - Rapids that are medium in difficulty with clear passages. This level requires some experience, but not expert.

Class III: Difficult - High, rough waves, some more narrow routes, rocky areas, and can be dangerous without good operator who is able to manage the waters well.

Class IV: Very difficult - Rough rapids, Very high waves, random, unbalanced rapids, dangerous rocks, a very powerful and precise operator is needed for tricky maneuvering of boat.

Class V: Extremely difficult - Extraordinary level of difficulty, long and violent rapids, ongoing rapids, many rocks and obstructions, violent currents, a very steep gradient, a watchful eye and ability to see what’s coming is necessary.

This level of difficulty requires a very experienced and skilled operator, and top of the line equipment. All safety precautions must be in place.

Class VI (or U) - Unrunnable or undoable...in other words Don't do it!

Whitewater rafting is a truly thrilling sport for any level from beginner to advanced and even at the level that I like to call out of your mind!

So, get out there and have fun!

But...

BE SAFE!
